The project will be to feed and service the homeless on the January 20th, by serving hot soup with sandwiches. In addition will provide personal packets with other usable items.

We will make care packages of toiletries, socks, gloves, and inspiration cards

This service project will be held at Gilbert Spruance Elementary School, at partner school with HIAS. This school hosts an afterschool program for refugee youth in collaboration with HIAS. Volunteers will be responsible for painting, cleaning and redecorating the school. There will be a reception following the completion of said tasks involving refugees giving their testimonies in regards to some of the obstacles they face as well as information on refugee advocacy.

Kits for the homeless

Continental Breakfast. Following, we will be having a discussion with community members on the impact addictions have had personally and in families. The discussion will begin with testimonies from individuals on the impact of drug addictions, food addictions, alcohol addictions, and sexual addictions. We will then have breakthrough groups with experts in each area of addiction to answer questions and gain more knowledge and information.Food bank

Valentine's day cards for veterans and those on active duty

Volunteers will work in teams of ten distributing reusable shopping bags at stores and in residential areas to promote elimination of single-use plastic bags in Chester City, Pa. The bags will feature an image of Dr. King with one of his sustainability quotes. This effort will involve promoting healthy communities through reduction of trash. Volunteers will debrief and discuss how their efforts create better communication in community health matters. Widener University students will participate.

The District Attorney's Office Staff, along with YAP panelist and participating youth will sort donations and assemble individual toiletry bags. The goal is to make 200 bags.

PFD members will distribute fire prevention literature and answer questions about fire safety.

Clean up trash and debris in the park.

Members of Engine 10 will assist shoppers of Acme Markets with bagging groceries, loading groceries in vehicle if needed and also having a table set up to hand out fire prevention literature. Members will also have Smoke Alarm Install Request forms on hand to obtain information for future installs.

Squad 47 will set up a fire prevention and safety education information table at local Fresh Grocer Supermarket. While interacting with people Squad 47 will also inventory all address' still needing smoke alarms.

Company will be on hand to distribute Fire Prevention material to shoppers as they enter the store and discuss household fire safety. Additionally, we will be taken vital signs upon request so that we can discuss a healthy life style.

Our guests will participate in a series of small group conversations followed by an interactive panel discussion with our honorees; Sharif El-Mekki, Mama Chris, Sterling Grimes, and Lawrence Jones. We ask that students, their families, administrators, educators, and all stakeholders join us at this event. We have a responsibility to include young people in the conversation, because if they are not at the table then they are on the menu. This event is a fundraiser to bring back the late C. DeLor

The residents of the 6300 block of Ross Street, in partnership with Germantown United CDC and nearby neighbors, are hosting a community clean-up to address the pervasive trash and quality of life issue on E Duval Street. Our clean-up efforts will begin at 9:00am, and we will meet at the corner of the 6300 block of Ross Street, and E Duval Street. We hope to shine a light on this issue, and show our neighbors we support them in being stewards of our community.

Visitors can sing along with “Two of a Kind,” an award-winning, nationally touring, husband-wife duo, during an interactive musical program. Focusing on themes related to Dr. King, the performance will encourage audience participation through songs, sign language, movement, and stories.

Students will either be creating videos or going over to the Early Childhood Center (birth to age 3) of the school

E01, L05 and M35 will set up an EMS education session and health fair in the lobby of this senior citizens home. We will distribute information to attendees, answer health related questions and check vital signs for attendees.

City Year Philadelphia's Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a community service event engaging the Philadelphia community in a day of physical service and beautification of two Philadelphia School District public schools.

This family friendly service event will host several projects including: multiple station for volunteer opportunities, volunteer for one hour or longer; make Art bags for CHOP

Volunteers sort and pack food to be distributed through our programs and agency network. You could be packing canned goods, produce, meat, or helping with various warehouse tasks.

Help us remove trash at Bristol Marsh Nature Preserve in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The more trash we collect, the less will get washed into our waterways!
