Our volunteers will be painting the after school room and the new game room.

The goal is to organize, sort and label books for our Spring 2020 opening of our library that serves K-8 families.

Morris Home supports trans- and gender-nonconforming individuals as they develop the knowledge, skills and supports necessary to promote sobriety, manage emotional and behavioral difficulties, choose and maintain safe and healthy lifestyles, and develop healthy relationships with peers, family and the community. HRC Greater Philadelphia is excited to once again be partnering with Morris Home once again for MLK Day of Service. Lunch will be provided.

Blankets for individuals experiencing homelessness children, cleaning and painting of the Church, lunch provided and cleaning of a senior citizens residence facility. We will all meet at the Church and split up depending on the project.

Roslyn Elementary School will be reading and discussing My Daddy, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr during our school-wide assembly.

The Mill Creek Advisory Council is partnering with the Martha Washington School for their beautification project. During this project we will be doing the following:
- Painting a new design on the exterior doors of the school.

Baking and packaging cookies with MLK quotes for the Happy Hollow Playground and the Police Athletic League

Singing Songs from the Civil Rights movement at Stapeley Retirement home

Cleaning and Painting children's chairs for the Crossroads Women's center

Assembling snack bags for the Happy Hollow playground After School Program

Promote deeper bonds between UPenn and the greater West Philadelphia area by inviting school-age children onto the Penn campus to engage in sports, wellness and community service activities under the guidance and encouragement of Penn students. Students will participate in a service activity, climbing the rock wall, yoga and football clinic led by the Penn Football team. The event is open to 4th-8th grade students at Mitchell, Comegys, Leaand Hamilton University-Assisted Community Schools.

Roslyn Elementary School will collecting items to donate to Stenton Family Manor (Homeless Shelter). We are collecting various toiletry items, underwear, socks, water bottles, juice and snacks.

“Wellness Initiative for Senior Education,” 11:30 a.m. Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and Feb. 7. The six-week, evidence-based substance abuse prevention and wellness program will cover topics from stress management and healthy living to medication management and prescription drug abuse. Free lunch will be provided. Registrants agree to attend all six sessions.

“In Remembrance of Martin,” 2:30 p.m. Jan. 20. This documentary features personal comments from family members, friends and advisers of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and also includes portions of his “I Have A Dream” speech. The film is available through the Library’s Kanopy digital service.

“Send Valentine’s Greetings to a Child in the Hospital,” 10 a.m. Jan. 29. All are welcome to drop in and design a card for a child in the hospital. Cards will be sent to Cards for Hospitalized Kids, an internationally recognized charitable organization. Registration is not required.

To support economic justice, Senator Haywood is partnering with faith group POWER to host a McRaise the Wage Town Hall from 12-12:30 p.m. at Uncle Bobbie’s at 5445 Germantown Avenue. Neighbors will march to McDonald’s located at 29 E. Chelten Avenue for a rally following the town hall.

Suggested non-perishable food items are canned food, jars of peanut butter or jelly, rice, cereal, dried fruits/raisins, breakfast bars/healthy snacks, and more. Donations will benefit the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and the F.E.R.B program at Delaware County Community College.

We need some help cleaning & disinfecting the kitchen area. We will also be sweeping under racks and wiping coolers/freezers down(outsides). Possibly some other odd and ends cleaning jobs. This project is currently scheduled from 9am-12pm but it may be a little shorter depending on # of volunteers.

We are looking for help with moving an entire 30 bed female house from 465 W. Main St., Mountville, PA 17554 to 4049 Marietta Ave., Marietta, PA 17547. That may not happen unless we get all our insurance stuff approved so is it doesn't we will be cleaning the Marietta property inside and out.

Volunteers will be assisting staff with sorting/organizing donations, cleaning/organizing outside storage areas, assisting in laundry and dishes, and animal enrichment activities. Volunteers may also be asked to assist with cleaning dog kennel and cat room areas.No direct contact with shelter animals will be permitted due to safety restrictions, though we will try to offer access to some of our adoptable animals with staff assistance prior to the end of the day.

We need some helping hands to put up new shelving into the wall. We also need help moving our standing display items to different locations.

Our work will include reorganizing the playground's library and cleaning classrooms, tables, chairs, etc. The playground is also hosting a letter-writing campaign seeking full funding for the Free Library of Philadelphia. Little volunteers will be entertained with a screening of the movie "Our Friend Martin.
