We will be cleaning up the Laura Sims Skate House facility. Additionally we will be cleaning the park around Sims and Cobbs Creek Recreation Center.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service,” Jan. 20 through Jan. 25. Crochet or knit at home, and drop off your items to the Circulation Department during normal branch hours. All sizes of hats, blankets, fingerless gloves, mittens and leg warmers will be accepted. Items will be donated to local charities. Items will not be accepted before Jan. 20 or after Jan. 25.

We'll pack Welcome Baskets of home goods and make Welcome Cards for refugees the have recently arrived with https://www.hias.org/ Food will be served!

We will be considering the experience of homelessness through the lens of the four roles of social change (Organizer, Rebel, Advocate, Helper). 

-Speaker Martin Wiley, Service Learning Program Coordinator Project HOME, will talk about MLK Junior's legacy as a Social Justice leader and teach guests about the issue of homelessness

This week, in preparation for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, we are partnering with Global Citizen365. We are collecting new and gently used professional attire for men and women who cannot afford to buy these items for themselves. Our goal is to help them dress for an interview or provide clothing that is fitting for a new job in the professional world.
• Button-down and collared shirts, Blazers, Suit pants, Suit jackets, Skirts,Dress pants, Casual dress pants.

OEC's MLK Day provides a unique opportunity for the school and community to come together to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through community service and volunteerism. We welcome community members, partners, as well as OEC students, families, and staff to complete projects that positively impact both OEC and the surrounding community. The day will start with an opening ceremony at 9:00am, three hours of service projects, lunch (provided), and a brief closing ceremony.

Hawthorne Park Elementary School is a public Title 1 school located in Willingboro, NJ. We will be spending the day taking part in the beautification of our school campus. With donated supplies and tools, we will clean-up the school's campus paint the outside poles for grade levels' arrival and dismissal procedures and help to create a more inviting school campus.

Art project, prepare lunch for the residents, organize closet of donations

We need some help cleaning & disinfecting the kitchen area. We will also be sweeping under racks and wiping coolers/freezers down(outsides). Possibly some other odd and ends cleaning jobs. This project is currently scheduled from 9am-12pm but it may be a little shorter depending on # of volunteers.

Quilts of Love is sponsoring a day of quilt-making from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, Rehoboth Beach. Quilts are given to infants and children in Sussex County. All materials are provided for the day of fun and creativity. Those who don’t know how to sew will be taught. The Mill Creek Advisory Council is partnering with the Martha Washington School for their beautification project. During this project we will be doing the following:
- Painting a new design on the exterior doors of the school.

Our Community Schools classroom needs to be revitalized. The project is spearheaded by the Community Schools Coordinator (Shira Smillie) who will be overseeing the project. Currently, there are no partner organizations who have committed to the revitalization project. We would love to partner with an organization who can also donate supplies like paint, furniture, and classroom decoration.

Art Sphere is looking for creative volunteers who want to give back to their community to work with us during our MLK Day Of Service event.
From 9 AM - 12 noon we invite volunteers to join us at our office in the Bok Building (5th floor) to prep art projects for our after-school preschool art classes for underserved youth. TOMORROW’S GIRLS & Women along with volunteers mission is to put together homeless care backpacks filled with essential items to help people living on the streets this. In addition we will offer fleece blankets and emergency (space) blankets. These NASA designed, foil-type blankets are designed to be wrapped as close to the body as possible and will hold in 90% of body heat. Bags will be distributed throughout North Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
