Make 100 PB & J sandwiches for Chews United Methodist Church’s outreach in Camden City.

Sorting donated shoes. Through the collection and sale of used shoes, Soles4Souls helps create self-sustaining jobs that generate desperately needed revenues throughout impoverished communities.

Located in downtown Blackwood this organization accepts donations of clothing and housing items. Volunteers will sort and coordinate donations.

Calling all blood donors – your donation is needed today to help patients in need.

Our day of service will consist of making blankets for children's hospitals and homeless shelters, making get well cards with words of encouragement for children and adults, and making care package zip-lock bags for the homeless (wipes, lotions.hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrush, socks). We are partnering with Ronald McDonald House, Children's Hospital, Joseph's Project, and Cooper Hospital.

Currently seeking a dedicated group of volunteers to help us overhaul our shelter with a deep clean and assist in yard work as needed!

The Kennett Area YMCA is proudly partnering with a few local community based organizations for MLK Day. We will have 2 opportunities for the public to get involved. Our first opportunity will be with the Kennett Area Senior Center. Our volunteers will come prepared to roll up their sleeves and dig in to help paint, clean, and reorganize a few work spaces at the center. The second opportunity will be with His Mission Shelter and the Kennett Y will be assembling personal care bags for the shelter.

Volunteers will sort items to fill Blessing Bags which will be distributed to displaced and homeless members of our community. There will be opportunity to write notes of encouragement for those receiving the bags. Blessing Bags are gallon bags filled with non-perishable food, snacks, water, toiletries, socks and other essentials for those who are in need. We welcome donations of items for the bags - drop off to the Jennersville YMCA.

This project focuses on literacy. Volunteers read stories and reflect on Dr. King with children, youth and parents. Singing songs and/or listening to music foster the atmosphere of celebration and holiday.

This project allows children and youth volunteers to use their talents and skills to create posters depicting Dr. King's legacy. Posters are displayed via onsite gallery and posted on website.

This project focuses on providing food for local community institutions that feed the hungry, homeless and less fortunate. The “SuperMarket Food Drive” is conducted to stock the West Chester Food Cupboard.

The Assemble Kid Snack Packs project allows volunteers to assemble specific foods donated in a food drive for children in after-school programs or for children to take on field trips. Snack Packs are delivered to Chester County Food Bank.

This Sewing/Quilting Circle project focuses on using crafts and skills to provide items of warmth and comfort for others. Both experienced and novice volunteers are needed and welcomed. This project allows volunteers to quilt or sew items for those in need. There will be seamstress making blankets for patients in hospitals and nursing homes.

The Assemble Personal Hygiene Care Kits project will package donations with notes of encouragement for homeless shelters and emergency backpacks that are given to those who are unsheltered.

This project focuses on providing food for institutions that feed the hungry by providing food to developing countries all over the world to eradicate hunger.

This project allows volunteers to use their craft skills to give care for others by making cards for soldiers, veterans and first responders using scrap-booking techniques.

The Maintain/Clean & Sanitize Facilities project allows volunteers to help others by maintaining the facilities and centers that take care of children, the homeless, disabled and the hungry.

The Documentary Video of MLK Day project allows volunteers to design a system to transmit and receive video and pictures from the various project sites throughout the Greater West Chester area. A video/slide show is created of the Day that will be shown when volunteers return from projects to lunch.

This project addresses the current economic issues facing the community today through empowerment seminars and workshops. Seminars to assist the the unemployed and job seekers with job hunting skills and self esteem will be offered. Financial information and wellness tips may be shared with clients so they have a well-rounded basis.

Community Clothes Giveaway of new and gently used clothing, coats and shoes for women, men and children.

The community is invited to attend the breakfast honoring Dr. King. Keynote speaker is Dr. Brenda Allen, President of Lincoln University on theme, "Diversity is OurvStrength." Everyone asked to bring spare change to "Change for Change" at Franklin Mint Credit Union, Kennett Square on 1/19/19. All funds donated to the Kennett Food Cupboard and the West Grove Bridge Food Pantry.

There will be multiple tables in which service activities will be taking place. Each table will focus on a certain aspect of service focusing on different areas of advocacy.

The event will be hosted by Cheyney alum, Kyle "JR" Morris and there will also be poets and various artists displaying talent in support of Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy.
