We are asking museum guests to bring school supplies that will be donated to School District of Philadelphia teachers.

We will clear the playground and memorial area of litter and debris. We will also distribute fire prevention materials and literature.

volunteers will assist our Therapeutic Recreation staff facility programs for our residents and visit residents 1:1. A social opportunity.

This moving opening ceremony engages area choirs, youth performers
and brings together members of the inner-faith community as we honor
the revolutionary spirit of Martin Luther King.

Each house of worship does a a thirty-minute service with a message about their faith, traditions and beliefs, followed by fellowship meal or refreshments.

Cradles To Crayons is dedicating the month of January to Martin Luther King, celebrating his legacy of service in the community.

In partnership with local fire stations, first responders, and community centers Cradles to Crayons will hold a collection across the Greater Philadelphia five-county region.

Rise Against Hunger’s meal packaging program is a volunteer-based initiative that coordinates the assembly-line packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. The program was created to give dedicated individuals and organizations — from businesses to civic clubs — the opportunity to participate in a hands-on international hunger relief program and to become educated, engaged advocates for those facing hunger. Neighborhood cleanups along with neighbors

Students from 3-8th grades will go into the community for service. We will go thrift stores whose proceeds go to help those in need.

Our students and their families will come together in our school gym to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will also talk about foster care. Then the children will fill back backs with personal hygiene items and school supplies to donate to Wordsworth CUA Region 10 foster care services.

Gideon Elementary will be focusing on topics of stress and trauma, in order to understand how to cope effectively--specifically, through art or therapeutic recreation.

Volunteers will be engaged in a range of urban gardening activities includeing: -spreading mulch -moving soil -moving logs -turning soil -neighborhood clean up

a group will be supporting "Heeding God's Call" with the creation of the Memorial to the Lost - a striking tribute to the Philadelphians lost to gun violence in 2018.

The YMCA in partnership with Cradles to Crayons will hold a collection here at the Abington Branch.

Donations collected on MLK Day will include a wide range of new and like new items for children ages newborn to 12.

Hat and Scarf Making Project for students and families in need

Students, family members, and staff will be creating craft bags for children in St. Christopher's Hospital.

WILL BE PAINTING, CLEAN UP , EDUCATIONAL GAMES. SINGING EDUCATING ABOUT M L K AND WHAT THE DAY IS ALL ABOUT

Residents who live in the independent home will work with those in skilled nursing (Mather House) on various games and projects.
