In partnership with NewCORE (New Conversations on Race and Ethncity) and WHYY, a group of promient religious leaders will share their stories and enagage in a conversation on how race and racism informs their leadership and the communities they lead. Included in the evening will be light reception, where attendees will be invited to engage on their own small group discussions and story-telling activities .

This event will honor the life & legacy of Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Through character Interpretation and performing arts. A musical
tribute to honor his life, and legacy. Partnering organizations include Inspiration & Co. , The Philadelphia Street Performers
Collaboration, Fire Blazing Records, The Strawberry Mansion Faith-Based Coalition, and a host of other Churches, and friends of
Keep The Dream Alive Community Development Corp. There will be volunteer opportunities at this event.

Backpacks will be prepared for homeless adults in our City, to include sheltered and non-sheltered persons. The contents will include washcloth, socks (at least 2 pairs), bottle of water and personal care products including hand sanitizer and bar soap container. The personal care items will be placed in plastic gallon zip bags to provide a container for later use. A resource guide will also be included. The back packs will be gender specific. K-5th grade Girl Scouts will be creating gifts for meals on wheels recipients.

K through 5th Grils Scouts will be creating cat toys for the local animal shelter.

Walkers will join the Annual Candlelight Vigil led by the Distinguished Gentlemen of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Mighty Psi Chapter. The vigil will begin outside of Du Bois College House and proceed with songs and quotes from Dr. King. The walk will end at the College Green.

Our recreation center is hosting a toiletry drive for the homeless. Donations can be dropped off at our center between 2:00PM-9:00PM Monday-Friday Some examples of items include: travel sized items, shampoo, new socks, deodorant, hats, gloves, tooth paste, tooth brushes, zip-lock bags, combs, brushes, cotton swabs etc.... January 21, 2019, marks the 90th birthday of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose message of equal rights for all is as important today as it was during his lifetime. Carnegie Museum of Art celebrates his legacy through artworks and activities that inspire discussion and reflection. The third annual Poetry Unplugged is a night of spoken word and music featuring artists from around the country using the life and work of Martin Luther King as inspiration. Poetry Unplugged will be a night of TRUTH and POWER.

Sixty students will participate in an intensive research exploration of African American culture and history by visiting the MLK Monument and National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. Faculty will serve as their guides to assist students in completing several learning outcomes, which include developing Knowledge about different racial/ethnic groups, openness to diversity and challenges, socio-historical thinking, and social action engagement.

The mission of the Network of Black Employees (NBE) is to enhance and encourage the career growth and development of its members, as well as provide community outreach and assistance. This is an appreciation breakfast.
