5 adults, 35 children will be cooking soup and packaging it!

Backpacks will be prepared for homeless adults in our City, to include sheltered and non-sheltered persons. The contents will include washcloth, socks (at least 2 pairs), bottle of water and personal care products including hand sanitizer and bar soap container. The personal care items will be placed in plastic gallon zip bags to provide a container for later use. A resource guide will also be included. The back packs will be gender specific. Thomas Paine Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is hosting an MLK Day of Service program designed with families in mind. We will open our day with a brief program with words of inspiration and song. Then, families can rotate through a series of simple project stations that will benefit various organizations in our community.

Cradles To Crayons is dedicating the month of January to Martin Luther King, celebrating his legacy of service in the community.

In partnership with local fire stations, first responders, and community centers Cradles to Crayons will hold a collection across the Greater Philadelphia five-county region.

In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, guided tours focus on African-American vocalists and Civil Rights activists Paul Robeson and Marian Anderson, accompanied by 78-rpm recordings of those artists played on authentic Victor Talking Machines.

We will be making no-sew blankets, pillowcases and stuffed teddy bears to be delivered by One House At A Time through their "Beds for Kids" bed delivery program

SINGING & EDUCATING ABOUT M L K AND WHAT THE DAY IS ALL ABOUT

The East Stroudsburg University Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast was initiated by former President Robert Dillman and other dedicated individuals including Leslie Antonette and Mel Gillespie in 1997.
This celebration is a significant and symbolic event in the East Stroudsburg Community as it is the largest program in the area honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Special worship service in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Poetry readings, interpretive lyrical dance by Crystal Monsanto, and sermon/talk (Do, Walk, Love) by guest speaker, Craig Uplinger, referencing the MLK, Jr. sermon Rediscovering Lost Values.

That day, GraceKids will be doing a MLK themed lesson as well with children ages 4-5th Grade.

In partnership with local fire stations, first responders, and community centers Cradles to Crayons will hold a collection across the Greater Philadelphia five-county region.

Different clubs, sports teams and musical groups will be doing service projects (visiting nursing home, blankets for St. Mary's, reading to younger children) afterschool the week after MLK day.
