Participants will learn the Do's and Don'ts of Citizen Advocacy in this civic dialogue facilitated by Senator Art Haywood. Community members will learn strategies they can use to influence the decisions of their legislators.

EAT Café (3820 Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104) is hosting volunteers from 9am to 5pm next Monday, January 21, 2019 for MLK DAY. Volunteers will: make lunch for a local group of volunteers, indoor cleanup, touching-up paint and assist with minor repairs inside our cozy West Philadelphia cafe. Lunch will be provided to our volunteers.

Before Service Day, we will collect art supplies to make Valentine's cards. On Service Day, parishioners and guests of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will make Valentine's Cards for members of the parish who cannot make it to church anymore. These cards will be mailed to each home bound member's house. Extra Valentine's Cards will be hand delivered to a local retirement community.

The gun safety table will work to bring awareness and change to the issue of gun safety. Volunteers will have the opportunity to write letters to address these issues with politicians both at the local and federal level. At the service day event, participants will have the opportunity to make a poster for a peaceful demonstration promoting gun safety. The peaceful and positive witness will take place in Yardley, PA after our main Service event.

SPRING CLEANING Wiping down classroom furniture, mopping hallways and stairs.

**Program will lead with the opening remarks and light refreshments. Participants will have the opportunity to create posters and banners depicting a world of nonviolence. Participants can engage in child friendly activities followed by a peace march around the immediate neighborhood and ending with lunch.

Participants will be CPS parents, students, alumni, community members, etc.

Gideon Elementary will be focusing on topics of stress and trauma, in order to understand how to cope effectively--specifically, through art or therapeutic recreation. Breakout session will allow for students and staff to engage in healthy coping habits, utilizing spoken word and dancing,

vacant lots in the 43rd St & Westmister area.

Volunteers from partner organizations and the community will asist older adults residing in Northeast Philadelphia neighborhoods with weatherization and minor home maintenance. Tasks may include: changing hard to reach light bulbs and smoke detectors, washing and weatherizing windows, covering window air conditioners. Basement and garage cleanouts, Minor home repairs.

The members of our church and community members are invited to clean our neighborhood. The areas to be cleaned are several parking lots, sidewalks, bus stops. Leaves will be gathered and put in trash bags.

Pre-registration required. Join us for a Martin Luther King Day of Service and Art, while exploring Frank Hyder’s Janis Project exhibition and Heads that Make Us Smile, in the Museum and Education Gallery. Learn about Dr. King’s legacy while exploring Hyder’s inspiration from around the world before creating your own head, and sharing ideas on how to promote goodwill in your family, school, community, nation, or world. Participants are asked to bring new hygiene products for homeless shelters.

We plan to hold an all day event for families to attend. When they stop in for the program they will receive a "peace" pin to wear. They will receive a shoe box to decorate. They will take the shoe box home and fill it with hygiene supplies and comfort items for elementary age kids. We will also have other crafts and refreshments for the families. We will ask them to return the boxes on February 14th so we can "spread the love".
