The East Stroudsburg University Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast was initiated by former President Robert Dillman and other dedicated individuals including Leslie Antonette and Mel Gillespie in 1997.
This celebration is a significant and symbolic event in the East Stroudsburg Community as it is the largest program in the area honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Our students and their families will come together in our school gym to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will also talk about foster care. Then the children will fill back backs with personal hygiene items and school supplies to donate to Wordsworth CUA Region 10 foster care services.

We will be assembling first aid kits which will later be donated to Duckrey Elementary School.

Cleaning up debris and leaves from the streets and lots from 35th and Fairmount Avenue to 37th and Fairmount Avenue. We will be bagging and removing the trash. After clean up serving a light lunch to volunteers as a thank you.

Troop 98010 invites you to join us for a day ON as we strive to give back to our community by celebrating Martin Luther King Day of Service. This year we ask you to bring donations in the form of can goods, feminine hygiene products and gently used children books that we will be donating to local women's shelters. During the day the girls will work together to organize and pack these items for delivery.

Various stations will be set for the girls to sort donated items.

Philadelphia neighbors who were facing food poverty, in partnership with 505 neighborhood food cupboards. Our regional
impact – and our ability to respond to the growing need – is made possible by the individuals and groups who volunteer in our
warehouse each day. To every volunteer: your commitment of time and energy helps reduce hunger, and we are so grateful.

We will gather for continental breakfast. We will pass out gloves, brooms,heavy duty bags to each volunteer. They will be given a designated location to clean.
We are expecting at least 30 persons from the church. Normally one other organization or school partners with us (it varies from year to year).
This is our first external project. The last three years the projects were internal.

Girl Scouts of Troop 9362 will assist the elderly residents of the Gray Manor Apartments in creating greeting cards and 50 Jared boxes for Shriners Hospital as well as greeting cards for military service people. The scouts will deliver the Jared Boxes and mail the greetings cards to servicemembers.

Eastern State Penitentiary commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his 1963 "Letter from Birmingham Jail" with special readings from the landmark text. Professional actors, youth readers, and community leaders read excerpts from King’s letter three times a day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. An informal Q&A moderated by a civil rights scholar follows each reading. The readings are free and open to the public. No reservations required.

Eastern State commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his 1963 "Letter from Birmingham Jail." Actors, youth, and community leaders read excerpts from King’s letter at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. On January 21, children ages 7-12 and their families are invited to create art in response to themes found in the letter, and read stories about Dr. King’s legacy. In partnership with PAR-Recycle Works, the historic site encourages the public to recycle old electronics from 10 am to 2 pm.

Every year, we fed the hungry on MLKDay. For anyone that needs food for many reasons, Grands as Parents will be giving out food to those that need it.
