The Upper Roxborough Reservoir

There will be a community celebration of the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. There will be food, skits, a movie screening, and dance performances, as well as the regular church service.

Won Community Service Center volunteers will help a house of worship for an immigrant community to be maintained for promotion of community fellowship; WCSC volunteers will help the neighborhood sidewalks and streets to be litter-free; WCSC volunteers will advocate community fellowship and environmental stewardship. Breakfast will be offered to early arriving volunteers.

The Martin Luther King CommUNITY of the Greater Kennett Area will present the 18th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. CommUNITY Breakfast on Monday, January 21, 2019. The breakfast is an opportunity to celebrate Dr. King's legacy of love and service and be inspired to live out his dream today in our community and throughout the world. Our 2019 theme is "Diversity is our Strength."

Students and their families from the Lower Merion School District will participate in creating Valentines to Veterans.

Students and their families from the Lower Merion School District will participate in packing snack bags for families at the Ronald McDonald House.

Volunteers are needed from 9am-10am for street clean up

The community is invited to attend the breakfast honoring Dr. King. Keynote speaker is Dr. Brenda Allen, President of Lincoln University on theme, "Diversity is OurvStrength." Everyone asked to bring spare change to "Change for Change" at Franklin Mint Credit Union, Kennett Square on 1/19/19. All funds donated to the Kennett Food Cupboard and the West Grove Bridge Food Pantry.

We will be providing parent workshops for families to introduce and/or develop specific skills. The focus of the workshops is TBD based on parent request and partner availability.

We are cleaning and painting our church, the members and community will help.

Our annual gathering to knit and crochet hats for those in need. Easy patterns & basic instruction will be available; snacks and drinks will be provided. Hat-making continues year-round, but this is our group session.
Donations of knitting needles (sizes 8 or 9), crochet hooks (sizes 3 or 4) and skeins of worsted-weight yarn are always welcome. Knitting hoops are also used, for those who shy away from knitting needles and crochet hooks.

Celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of service with your friends and neighbors at his memorial at the intersection of 40th, Lancaster, and Haverford Avenues. Enjoy refreshments, live music, and spoken word performances.

We will be having a panel discussion hearing from formerly incarcerated individuals and a prison care kit assembly, where we will be assembling donated hygiene items to be distributed in prison.

An indoor intergenerational story time with international meal sharing. Breakout activities to engage senoirs and youths in discussion and art project. Community resources will be provided

Project has been cancelled, due to weather related concerns. We had 175 volunteers scheduled to be present, but many has called out due to insurance liabiltiy with icy conditions. I (Miranda Alexander) plan to be at Girard College, then go to a few neighborhood sites to take our dream flag project Tshirt

Will partner with "Sisterhood" & "What About Our Daughters" to donate shoes and clothing.

Volunteers will also support the St. Jude's hospital by creating mask straps for young patients.

We will make homemade cards for hospitalized kids

Students will be making chocolate covered pretzels. Pretzels will be donated to the homeless shelter in Lower Bucks County

Students will be traveling to Attleboro Nursing Home (Brunswick House) and playing board games and BINGO with the residents.

To promote literacy for Philadelphia youth, volunteers will create audio books using smart phones or digital recorders. Bring a multi-cultural children's book (level: pre-K to 2nd grade; short length) or purchase books from wish list @: https://tinyurl.com/MLK2019BookDrive. Volunteers will construct a "Making Life Kinder" bag and fill them with personal toiletries specifically geared toward women. Volunteers will also decorate and personalize individual cards that will accompany each bag. These bags will be donated to area shelters. Workshop on careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Medicine) for high school students interested in healthcare, science, engineering, technology, or math careers. A STEM panel (made of up university faculty and staff) will discuss their personal journey, and offer advice for the next generation.
