Community youth will serve breakfast to seniors of the community The President of the Black Caucus American Library Association will be in attendance.

Cleaning the church grounds as well as cleaning and patining kitchen, dishing area, and classrooms in the church.

Students and staff will be participating in multiple community clean-ups of the Woodland Avenue Corridor.

Won Community Service Center volunteers will help a house of worship for an immigrant community to be maintained for promotion of community fellowship; WCSC volunteers will help the neighborhood sidewalks and streets to be litter-free; WCSC volunteers will advocate community fellowship and environmental stewardship. Breakfast will be offered to early arriving volunteers.

The West Philadelphia Alliance for Children is now seeking volunteers to help with shelving, cateloging and organizing books to prepare for the opening of our newst school library...Harrington Elementary school! Volunteering in a WePAC library means being part of a team of caring people, passionate about sharing the love of reading with the children of Philadelphia.

Students in grades K-5 will read "SIT- IN" by Andrea Davies Pinkney. They will create an artistic work in any medium to present in response to the 2018/19 prompt.

We will be making blankets for Children who are in Foster Care - distributed thru Fleece For Keeps.
We will also be asking for books to be donated and doing volunteer reading activities throughout the morning.

PAINTING WITH A PURPOSE is a project geared to beautifying W.C. Longstreth School in order to continue our efforts to create a warm inviting environment for scholars, families, staff and community members who wish to utilize our space to give back to the community. Our scholars deserve to walk into a clean building filled with color and a story. We not only want to paint we want to tell a story. At Longstreth our scholars learn the importance of legacy. This project will allow them to leave one!

The contents will include washcloth, socks (at least 2 pairs), bottle of water and personal care products including hand sanitizer and bar soap container. The personal care items will be placed in plastic gallon zip bags to provide a container for later use. A resource guide will also be included. The back packs will be gender specific. Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley is partnering with Valley Youth House (VYH). VYH is looking for groups (6-10 people) to paint living rooms and bedrooms at our Maternity Group Home and Lehigh Valley Shelter, on MLK Day. Group volunteering only. VYH Maternity Group Home is a program for pregnant and parenting mothers ages 16-22 and their children, which focuses on providing community supportive transitional living support, life skills, and parenting/individual therapy.

Discussion of mindfulness of spaces on campus as it related to, social justice and inclusion and equity. Specifically, students and staff will have the opportunity to create banners with quotes from prominent African Americans, occurring throughout the week.

Get a good read on your health at the University of the Sciences’ annual Martin Luther King Jr. Health Fair at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Faculty, staff, and students from USciences will be on hand to conduct health screenings and discuss relevant health issues. They will be performing vital signs evaluations, grip and pinch strength tests, determining balance and fall risks, and conducting individual medication reviews. The fair will be free and open to the public from 1 -3pm.

Students and staff will be participating in multiple community clean-ups of the 48th and Woodland Playground.

Students and staff will be participating in food access and meal prep service, with the assistance Mt. Zion Baptist Church members.
