2019 GEO Report

The Common Place and Cornerstone Christian Academy are teaming up to clean up our campus! We will be working within our buildings to clean, maintain and fix our buildings. Our goal is to create a safe, and clean environment to help support the children and families we work with.

The plan is to clean the floors of the gymnasium, main hallways, the areas of the facility that are heavily used. Paint areas that have been neglected over a period of time.

Volunteers will assist staff members and our SAC volunteers in cleaning our gym/lunch room area, bathrooms and hallways.This will be in addition to clearing out and organizing our storage closets and book room and library.

The Summit creates opportunities for attendees to learn, connect, and act on behalf of racial justice through interactive conversations and artwork.

Peanut butter drive in collaboration with Philabundance. Goal to collect 100 lbs of peanut butter. Melissa K

Aid for Friends Meal Project – Cook and assemble meals

Rise Against Hunger’s meal packaging program is a volunteer-based initiative that coordinates the assembly-line packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. The program was created to give dedicated individuals and organizations — from businesses to civic clubs — the opportunity to participate in a hands-on international hunger relief program and to become educated, engaged advocates for those facing hunger. Celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of service with your friends and neighbors at his memorial at the intersection of 40th, Lancaster, and Haverford Avenues. Enjoy refreshments, live music, and spoken word performances.

In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, guided tours will focus on three compelling stories of courageous Delawareans whose fight for freedom and equality began at The Old State House.

Volunteers, students, and families will join together to paint murals throughout the school.

5 adults, 35 children will be cooking soup and packaging it!

Come to join us to read to children and learn how to be an active reader to keep our children on track to read by 4th grade!

We will be spending the day cleaning and painting the church's educational wing.

Indoor: Re-paint Multipurpose Room wall used for projecting movies. Install sound system into Multipurpose Room.

Indoor painting, bathroom painting, closet storage reorganization, repair, painting. May include lifting up to 30 pounds.

In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, guided tours focus on African-American vocalists and Civil Rights activists Paul Robeson and Marian Anderson, accompanied by 78-rpm recordings of those artists played on authentic Victor Talking Machines.

Join the Norristown Project for our annual MLK Day of Service activity at Montgomery County OIC. Each year we select a classroom at our facility to be painted. On January 21st, we will paint our community classroom and after-school classroom. Details to be announced as we get closer to January.

This activity is limited to 40 volunteers, please RSVP to sashe@montcooic.org with the number of volunteers you will bring. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

From 9-noon we invite volunteers to join us at our office in the Bok Building (5th floor) to Prep Art Projects for Preschool Art Projects for our Free Art Workshops for Underserved Youth. Volunteers can learn how to make ASI crafts and cut fabric and paper projects, use a sewing machine, use glue guns google eyes and pompoms to make puppets. Volunteers are also welcomed to prep or make Valentine's Day cards which we distribute to homeless veterans and senior citizens.
