Workshop focusing on adults as it relates to services and outreach

Will be hosting a workshop for adults focusing on service and outreach

Students and staff will collect and donate various school supplies. These supplies will be given to a local charity organization called "Kids Cupboard". The supplies will be distributed to schools with limited resources and to students will low income.

The kids will participate in pj party activities. We are asking everyone to bring a donation for Philly PAWS, an animal rescue organization, at their “entrance fee” to the party.

Girl Scouts of Troop 9362 will assist the elderly residents of the Gray Manor Apartments in creating greeting cards and 50 Jared boxes for Shriners Hospital as well as greeting cards for military service people. The scouts will deliver the Jared Boxes and mail the greetings cards to servicemembers.

The Food Bank of Delaware’s Backpack Program volunteers will be packing food in bags for the student. the goal is to pack 1200 means.

The Mill Creek Advisory Council, residents and youth in the neighborhood will be volunteering at the cleanup as well. People's Emergency Center will be working with us in giving us supplies for the cleanup. Volunteers will be working in the following areas: cleaning the main meeting area of the building, cleaning of bathrooms, painting of bathrooms, painting of upper walls in main area, cleaning and trash removal on outside playground area and around perimeter gates.

We will be creating 500 breakfast bags for Aid for Friends.

Volunteers assisting with food packing event

Join Lucien E. Blackwell Community Center on January, 21 for a One-on-One with an Entrepreneur. Our goal that day is to encourage community members to network with businesses owners, host workshops, and creating a dialog around being a minority, but not limited to, entrepreneur. We are currently looking for businesses to participate in empowering our community members.

New Salem Baptist Church is a community church looking for volunteers to assist with cleaning and painting various areas in the church (bathrooms, sanctuary, kitchen, dinning hall) This church serves the community and would really appreciate help to keep it presentable for its members and community.

Students from 3-8th grades will go into the community for service. We will go to nursing homes.

We will begin with a litany in remembrance of Dr. King at 9:00 a.m. Then at 9:15 a.m., we will go to our service stations. There will
be activities for people of all ages— from preschoolers through older adults.

We will have students bring in pet supplies to be donated on this day.

Gideon Elementary will be focusing on topics of stress and trauma, in order to understand how to cope effectively--specifically, through art or therapeutic recreation.

Outdoor cleaning

Cradles To Crayons is dedicating the month of January to Martin Luther, Jr., celebrating his legacy of service in the community.

The YMCA in partnership with Cradles to Crayons will hold a collection here at the Abington Branch.

Donations collected on MLK Day will include a wide range of new and like new items for children ages newborn to 12.

Backpacks will be prepared for homeless adults in our City, to include sheltered and non-sheltered persons. The contents will include washcloth, socks (at least 2 pairs), bottle of water and personal care products including hand sanitizer and bar soap container. The personal care items will be placed in plastic gallon zip bags to provide a container for later use. A resource guide will also be included. The back packs will be gender specific. Hat and Scarf Making Project for students and families in need

Students, family members, and staff will be making breakfast bags for the homeless.

Students from 3-8th grades will go into the community for service. We will go thrift stores whose proceeds go to help those in need.

Athletic Recreation Center is a beautiful, historical center that requires a lot of support to keep it in a safe, clean, working condition. During the Day of Service, we are hoping to garner the support of every organizations to give this building a good clean up and to de-clutter from the previous year. We have neighbors who will come out to support our endeavor and also community partners such as The Brewerytown NAC and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Lunch will be provided.
