Our day will include mural and t-shirt painting, an essay and art contest, a mobile black history museum, a book fair, book giveaway and author signings, two historical interpretation presentations of Bessie Coleman & Harriet Tubman by Dr. Daisy Century, wkshps on conflict resolution, grief recovery, community concerns as well as a quilting project and more.

The Martin Luther King CommUNITY of the Greater Kennett Area will present the 18th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. CommUNITY Breakfast on Monday, January 21, 2019. The breakfast is an opportunity to celebrate Dr. King's legacy of love and service and be inspired to live out his dream today in our community and throughout the world. Our 2019 theme is "Diversity is our Strength."

Backpacks will be prepared for homeless adults in our City, to include sheltered and non-sheltered persons. The contents will include washcloth, socks (at least 2 pairs), bottle of water and personal care products including hand sanitizer and bar soap container. The personal care items will be placed in plastic gallon zip bags to provide a container for later use. A resource guide will also be included. The back packs will be gender specific. Volunteers include (a.) donors (b.) assemblers (c.) d

Cradles To Crayons is dedicating the month of January to Martin Luther King, celebrating his legacy of service in the community.

In partnership with local fire stations, first responders, and community centers Cradles to Crayons will hold a collection across the Greater Philadelphia five-county region.

WILL BE PAINTING, CLEAN UP , EDUCATIONAL GAMES. SINGING EDUCATING ABOUT M L K AND WHAT THE DAY IS ALL ABOUT

Our student government and junior honor society will run Alex's lemonade stand, and all of the proceeds will be donated to the organization @ https://www.alexslemonade.org/about/meet-alex.
We will also host a clothing drive to benefit the St. Patrick's Association.

Children in each grade will participate in a service project.

Community youth will serve breakfast to seniors of the community The President of the Black Caucus American Library Association will be in attendance.

Penn State Brandywine student organizations will be running various family-friendly service activities. We will be honoring Dr. King's legacy through projects that focus on kindness, inclusion and advocacy. Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in service opportunities such as crocheting caps for newborns, writing cards to our military members overseas, creating Valentines for local seniors in the community, and organizing toiletry kits for women's shelters.

PPYC & PPFC will collaborate to host a Prospect Park Food Donation Drive. We will receive drop offs of donated food at the Prospect Park Fire Company with assistance of volunteers from PPYC, PPFC, and other community members. Donated food will be distributed to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and possibly to the food pantry at Delaware County Community College for students with food insecurities. I reached out to DCCC to see if they have students with food insecurities.
