This year’s keynote speaker is Sophia J. Woodard, founder and CEO of ASHANTI Truth Consulting, entrepreneur, and author. During the banquet, awards will be presented to students who have demonstrated the characteristics for which King was known: leadership, community involvement, and commitment to social justice.

Members and friends of First Baptist Church of Crestmont will work together to clean, organize, make minor repairs and other things as needed to assist in the upkeep of The House of God.

We will package food for their clients.

Eastern State Penitentiary commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his 1963 "Letter from Birmingham Jail" with special readings from the landmark text. Professional actors, youth readers, and community leaders read excerpts from King’s letter three times a day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. An informal Q&A moderated by a civil rights scholar follows each reading. The readings are free and open to the public. No reservations required.

Eastern State commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his 1963 "Letter from Birmingham Jail." Actors, youth, and community leaders read excerpts from King’s letter at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. On January 21, children ages 7-12 and their families are invited to create art in response to themes found in the letter, and read stories about Dr. King’s legacy. In partnership with PAR-Recycle Works, the historic site encourages the public to recycle old electronics from 10 am to 2 pm.

Come support One Art Community Center in making bricks out of recycled materials for their sustainable building projects! Dress warmly, we may be going inside and outside to gather and move materials around.

Preparing and serving breakfast at Opportunity House, which is a homeless shelter for men, women, and families. Also serves clients that are not in the shelter, but needing a hot meal.

This is an invasive plants removal and litter clean up. Most of the ivy we'll be addressing is English ivy, but there is some poison ivy too. We will have protective gloves and Tecnu scrub for clean up. But volunteers can opt to pick up trash too and stay away from the plants. No problem. See more details above.

Employees of reading Terminal Market will be going to Strawberry Mansion Learning Center. organize the library.

Cradles To Crayons is dedicating the month of January to Martin Luther King, celebrating his legacy of service in the community.

In partnership with local fire stations, first responders, and community centers Cradles to Crayons will hold a collection across the Greater Philadelphia five-county region.

We will be painting as well to beautify our multi-purpose room. We are inviting adults and children at least 5yrs. old

Volunteers will participate in a short celebration and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy. Then volunteers will follow in MLK's footsteps by serving! The entire town of Bristol Borough (2000 homes will receive information about participating in a town-wide food collection that will take place on Superbowl Sunday. Volunteers should plan to wear warm clothing and walking shoes because we will cover every home in the Borough.
