Help our teaching artists create a metal sculpture that pays tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. and his famous speech "I Have A Dream". Pick your favorite quote and punch it into metal sheeting, or add texture and shapes to the surface of the sculpture. When it's finished the sculpture will be featured in MAKESHOP until the end of February to celebrate Black History Month.

Preparing and serving breakfast at Opportunity House, which is a homeless shelter for men, women, and families. Also serves clients that are not in the shelter, but needing a hot meal.

Volunteers will be assisting in the kitchen to provide meals for MANNA's population.

Sixty students will participate in an intensive research exploration of African American culture and history by visiting the MLK Monument and National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. Faculty will serve as their guides to assist students in completing several learning outcomes, which include developing Knowledge about different racial/ethnic groups, openness to diversity and challenges, socio-historical thinking, and social action engagement.

The college will honor community organizations that provide service learning and civic engagement activities for the Raritan Valley Community College student. Numerous community organizations serving disadvantaged populations (at-risk children, homeless, disabled, elderly, homebound) will be honored for their commitment to service. This project allows children and youth volunteers to use their talents and skills to give back and help others. The children will make arts and crafts gifts for senior citizens and cards for soldiers and veterans using scrap-booking techniques.

Outdoor clean up

Montclair State University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local community members are invited to serve in the Montclair community and surrounding areas. Volunteers arrive at the Student Center Cafeteria and are dismissed to their service sites which are 13 off-campus sites and 3 on-campus sites. The off-campus service sites are Canterbury Village, Ceberal Palsy of North Jersey, CUMAC, Covenant House of Newark, Habitat for Humanity Paterson, Job Haines, KinderSmile Foundation, and more!

This project focuses on providing food for institutions that feed the hungry by providing food to developing countries all over the world to eradicate hunger.

Montclair State University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local community members are invited to serve in the Montclair community and surrounding areas. Volunteers arrive at the Student Center Cafeteria and are dismissed to their service sites which are 13 off-campus sites and 3 on-campus sites. Specifically, students will be partnering with CUMAC in Newark, NJ in order to help service displaced individuals.

Students will attend Face to Face Germantown to help in their kitchen or to organize their supply room.

This project allows children and youth volunteers to be active through videos, games and movement that teach and share the legacy on Dr. King. Activities foster the atmosphere of celebration and holiday.

Sort, inventory and bag new socks that were donated for those experiencing homelessness. Warehouse is unheated. Lifting and moving boxes and bags of socks weighing about 10-25 pounds. Perhaps some office work.
