Cook for a Friend© is a program made up of volunteers who prepare meals and soups for homebound isolated seniors of Greater Philadelphia. Cooking groups will be preparing meals that will directly benefit their senior neighbors in Mantua/West Philadelphia. Cooks last two hours, and consist of volunteers working together to prep fresh locally grown vegetables, following a recipe (by the lead of a cooking group leader), and packing up the finished meal or soup (and cleaning up), which is frozen and later distributed to clients by program staff and trained volunteers.
