This week, in preparation for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, we are partnering with Global Citizen365. We are collecting new and gently used professional attire for men and women who cannot afford to buy these items for themselves. Our goal is to help them dress for an interview or provide clothing that is fitting for a new job in the professional world.
• Button-down and collared shirts, Blazers, Suit pants, Suit jackets, Skirts,Dress pants, Casual dress pants.

Robeson Students will work with Blankenburg students on creating vision boards. They will help them start visualizing what they want to accomplish in the future, where they see themselves in the next 5, 10, 20 years, etc.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in partnership with The Lions Club, will be collecting eyeglasses and gently used shoes for those in need and cannot afford them.

Resource Fair for distributing information about Women's Health and Wellness, college admissions, and financial aid information.

Our School community (staff, students, parents, care givers and neighbors), will tackle a variety of school beautification projects. This will include painting areas of need, clean up efforts and group art projects.

Penrose Playground will be hosting its 2nd Martin L. King Recognition Dinner. We will acknowledge the hard work and dedication of 6 community activists and 1 junior activist. These individuals have volunteered over the years to ensure that the Penrose community (families and friends) have a building for shelter during the day, a person that will listen, food for their bodies and a safe place to grow. These are individuals that worked hard to bring Martin L. King's dream to reality.

Clayborn Lewis Community Center Clean-up and decorating/ beatification indoors. Ideas: Chalk wall (Painted), banner, plant wall, office spruce and clean up. Tidy the kitchen area. Refreshments and MLK recognition/ dedication.

Volunteers who attend our VITA Tax Preparer training will become IRS certified to prepare taxes for low-income families at one of our tax sites throughout Philadelphia. We offer both a Basic and Advanced training. Once certified, attendees are required to serve at least 24 hours during the tax season (Jan 21 - April 15). Knowing how to prepare taxes is a lifelong skill that will not only enhance your resume, but your volunteerism will have a positive impact on the communities we serve.

Creating place mats for the elderly

The Martin Luther King CommUNITY Breakfast brings together over 500 community leaders, clergy, public officials and friends in observance of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and for fellowship and service. It is the largest event of its kind in Chester County. For the past two years, Congressman John Lewis has served as our Honorary Chairperson. After the Breakfast there is an opportunity for participants to dialogue with keynote speaker on issues of concern in the community.

Toiletries drive for the homeless. Accepting donations now until January 20th 2020. Volunteers are asked to bring new toiletry items only. Nothing old or used. Some suggested items include: new socks, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo, soap, new underwear, mouth wash, new hats, new gloves etc.On the day of the event, volunteers are asked to separate items into individual bags based on gender. All bags are donated to the Whosoever Gospel Mission and distributed.

The Clean Laundry Learn Paint Bright Futures Project invites Judges, Attorneys and Court Employees partner with Philadelphia Mural Arts and the Mayors Re-Entry Program to paint and beautify the environment of underprivileged students. Volunteers will be painting and collecting laundry detergent, toiletries and personal items to support the schools New Laundry Program.

We will be cleaning the neighborhood

-We will be cleaning, sorting and organizing the donation rooms / boutique for the participants that we provide service to a daily basis ,Villanova has agreed to pick up our project and work with us again this year.

Children of Twin Hill will be making toys for the cats at their local shelter out of recycled materials.

We will have activities for students. They will make snowman soup for soldiers

In addition to a "pop-up" supermarket, Tabernacle Baptist Church will work with Project Linus to make no-sew blankets for children with cancer.
We will build a park bench for the community.

We will prepare personal care bags for men that are in recovery houses, teens that are in shelters and senior citizens in assisted living facilities.

This upcoming year we will also be providing visual arts program, to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King. Local Pastors will be in attendance along with state representatives, and local talent will be performing.

Ian-Yae’s In Touch & Church of the Redeemer Baptist Annual Outdoor Community Cleanup. We will clean up the Pointbreeze area in South Philadelphia from 11am - 1pm. Volunteers will be served lunch from 1pm - 2pm

We will be making "Blessing Bags" for a local food pantry. We will be inviting all current students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the college.

We will be collecting food for our food pantry at a local grocery store, and stocking them in our pantry. We rely on monthly food drives to supplement the food we obtain from the food bank. The food bank has a limited amount of options, and we need additional food to help feed people throughout the entire month. The food drive will be held at Casel's grocery store, and the pantry is located at the Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties office in Margate, NJ.

We partner with Clean Communities to manage the "adopt-a-spot". The opportunity to introduce Stockton students to the work we are doing here at Save Barnegat Bay through a service project of helping us keep our area clean would be wonderful! This will be a Trash Clean up at Browns Woods (40 acres), Barnegat Bay EcoCenter.

A warm winter clothing/coat distribution out of the Stockton Atlantic City Academic Building, with a simultaneous neighborhood membership canvass to reach local households who might need ESWA benefits. Given enough preparation time, local health care professionals like Chintan Shah, owner of Trenton Avenue Pharmacy (located across the street from the AC campus), might be able to participate as well, providing useful public health information on topics like diabetes prevention and management.

Community members as well as students and families from the Schuylkill Center's Nature Preschool Program past and present will be helping out.
We'll work on improving the health of the forest, field and meadows on this 340 acre site. There will be child centered as well as adult service projects available.

The Girl Scouts of Saucon Valley in 6th through 12th grades will be sewing backpacks to be donated to the Doctors on the Streets program in the Lehigh Valley

The staff at E. W. Rhodes Elementary School will continue their endeavor to update school murals and school painting projects. Due to the square footage of the school, there are a number of areas that require painting. The school does not have the funding to cover all of the areas needed so volunteers from the school community will work on different painting projects around the school.

Volunteers are planning the details for the project. As in years past, we will collaborate with local businesses and community partners to assemble care packages for people within our community. Penn Township is already onboard to provide space and marketing to get the word out. We are soliciting others for donations and additional marketing opportunities for the event.

College admissions and financial aid topics will include: what to consider when picking a college; managing application deadlines; how to apply for financial aid; what you should include in your essay; and more. There will also be a college fair.
