This is the kick-off to a global missions project where pillow case dresses will be sewn for young girls in Uganda. The kick-off is an event for for 100% cotton pillow cases to be donated and plans to be made for making the dresses.

The purpose of Rock the Vote! is to assemble packages to distribute in community in order to Get Out the Vote. Rock the Vote! packs includes a kindness rock reminding persons to vote, rock candy and literature on new voting legislature and schedule of elections for 2020.

Join HIAS PA to learn new tools to advocate for Philadelphia's immigrant communities to your elected officials. The HIAS PA advocacy team will be having a one hour training on the history of race in the US immigration system. We will then use what we've learned to write our elected officials about how they can take action for Immigrants and Refugees in the New Year! This event will take place at HIAS PA (2100 Arch St).

Kings of the Day Bunch and Board is a day for father and their sons to talk about different issues. They also build a vision board together for 2020

We will be doing a mixture of stories in ASL for young children in the Early Childhood Education Center (preschool). One about kindness and acceptance, for that is what MLK's message was ( we are thinking something similar to the ugly little duckling) but will ultimately decide this with the students tomorrow morning. Another general story, such as a well known fairy tale and will use the recommended MLK stories from Global Citizen.

Cradles To Crayons is proud to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy of service in the community by hosting our largest region-wide product collection of the year. We will be collecting essential items for children ages 0-12, living in poverty or low-income situations, throughout the five county Greater Philadelphia region. Donations will allow Cradles to Crayons to reach children in need and help keep them safe, healthy and warm throughout the winter. Please donate new or like-new children’s items at one

Our work will include painting, organizing the bookroom, and cleaning.

Volunteers are needed to help with hanging incoming clothing donations, pricing and filling the clothing racks on the sales floor.

Volunteers are needed to clean the inside of cabinets, oven and behind oven closets. We will also need volunteers to make 65 crafts for our clients.

We have three rooms that need to be painted. All supplies will be provided. Lunch will also be provided for volunteers.

The second floor of our building needs to be cleaned out in order for us to start our capital campaign of remodeling it to create our community kitchen, shared partner offices, space for banking and legal services as well as for a computer lab, classroom space and competition space for our eSports Team.

Volunteers are needed to review stone by stone and notate if individual is a veteran, if they need a flag, and flag holder. Cemetery is 20+ acres so many helpers are needed. This one day service project is part of a larger effort to make sure ALL veterans are remembered for their service to our country.

Y-Achievers is asking for the Active Older Seniors to come out for a day of games, crafts and light lunch in an effort to bridge the gap through communication and fellowship. Offering assistance using smartphones, tablets, iPads, and social media presence. Required to be a AOA YMCA member and sign up no later than Jan 15.

For Senator’s 2020 year of Justice and one of the initiatives being on social justice, it is important to register neighbors to vote. During the MLK Day of action, 100 volunteers will be stationed at 30 locations within a two-mile radius of Girard College registering people to vote. Please let me know if you’d like a quote from Senator to use for the release your office is putting out and I can get that to you today.

The Howell Alliance will host a Healthy Community Think Tank on Jan. 6. Topics discussed at quarterly meetings include social media/technology use, vaping, underage drinking, marijuana use and mental health. Community members are welcome to share their ideas and perspective in an informal environment to enrich the community’s commitment to youth at-risk behavior prevention. No membership is necessary. The 2020 meeting dates are Jan. 6, April 6, July 6 and Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at Echo Lake Pavilion,
