An annual project of Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles(UFC) and the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF), building economic self-reliance & carrying on the movement for African self-determination from the '60s to today!

The black community today faces homelessness, imprisonment, unemployment, poverty and early death at higher rates than in the 1960s. APEDF is struggling to end the same disparities that were fought by MLK and the Civil Rights Movement.

Make your MLK Day significant

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in partnership with The Lions Club, will be collecting eyeglasses and gently used shoes for those in need and cannot afford them.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US for an Interfaith Worship Service bringing together congregations and houses of faith from Lower Merion and Haverford Townships. Service will have special readings, interfaith choir and call to action! OPEN TO ALL!

After prayer and meeting. We will break groups up into several groups.
Our attention will be brought too picking leaders to lead various MLK projects
around his/her community.
As we prepare for next year.

Administrative offices staff will donate new clean socks for homeless shelters & people living on the streets.

AAMP in Partnership with Citizen's Bank looks forward to hosting our annual MLK Weekend! On January 18th, we will offer $2 admission to the general public and will have various service projects , scavenger hunts, and performances!

A volunteer fair with volunteer opportunities

A scheduled program that involves food making, card making, mat making, and an end of day reflection (everyone).

5 volunteers from Temple Law School painting Bainbridge, a Permanent Supportive Housing residence for men formerly experiencing homelessness

10am A discussion of Justice Reform. Panel will include a formerly incarcerated man who now runs a Green Company that employs those with a record, an ACLU rights lawyer, a mitigation specialist, and a Rabbi that visited maximum security prison as part of an Interfaith Partnership.

11am Souls Shot: A Portrait Memorial of Victims of Gun Violence
This next discussion will be panel of Mothers. Hear from mothers who have lost sons to gun violence and a a portrait artist.

100 volunteers will do service projects around the school.
Clean up a side lot to be used in the future as a playground

10 volunteers from Blessings4Ever are coming to Bethesda Project - My Brother's House to serve lunch and interact with guests at this Safe Haven homeless shelter.

-church members are partnering with neighbors in beautifying the neighborhood
-we encourage all ages to be involve; no one is too young or old
-continuing creating a fellowship with the neighbors
-being able to demonstrate to the children the importance of working together to achieve the goal

"Join HIAS PA to learn new tools to advocate for Philadelphia's immigrant communities to your elected officials. The HIAS PA advocacy team will be having a one hour training on the history of race in the US immigration system. We will then use what we've learned to write our elected officials about how they can take action for Immigrants and Refugees in the New Year! This event will take place at HIAS PA (2100 Arch St).
