We are going to speak on the important life and service of Martian Luther King. We will read a book about service to the lower grades in the school and promote reading and education while delivering a message about a life of service.

Engine 56 will assist in cleaning playground and basketball court area and assist in indoor projects on the interior of the rec center building.

Company will be on hand to distribute Fire Prevention material to shoppers as they enter the store and discuss household fire safety. Additionally, we will be taken vital signs upon request so that we can discuss a healthy life style.

Members will assist the Recreation Center staff with cleaning and painting and beautification.

Members of Engine 68 an L13 will clean up general area around Malcolm X Park and hand out Fire Prevention Literature to citizens.

Engine 70 will be visiting the Houseman Rec center, as in the past, to distribute fire prevention literature and speak on the importance of Fire Prevention. We will offer a presentation on 1st aid and offer blood pressure checks. Engine 70 will use this opportunity to reestablish contacts with community leaders and seek those in our CRR district that may be in need of smoke detectors.
On this day, Engine 70 will reaffirm our commitment to the community we are assigned to protect.

The company, along with neighbors and members of the Logan Community Enterprise Center, will conduct a block cleanup. Our goal is to remove all trash and debris from the street.

Members of Engine 08 and Ladder 02 will clean up general area inside the park and hand out Fire Prevention Literature to citizens.

This project allows children and youth volunteers to use their talents and skills to give back and help others. The children will make arts and crafts gifts for senior citizens and cards for soldiers and veterans using scrap-booking techniques.

A warm winter clothing/coat distribution out of the Stockton Atlantic City Academic Building, with a simultaneous neighborhood membership canvass to reach local households who might need ESWA benefits. Given enough preparation time, local health care professionals like Chintan Shah, owner of Trenton Avenue Pharmacy (located across the street from the AC campus), might be able to participate as well, providing useful public health information on topics like diabetes prevention and management.

Students, families, and staff will be making breakfast bags for the homeless.

Working in conjunction with Father Judge High School, our companies will clean up the memorial and remove any trash and debris from the area. We will polish the bell and wipe down the granite headstone. At this time if there are any repairs needed to the fencing or post we will perform them.

Our work will include painting, organizing the bookroom, and cleaning.

OEC's MLK Day provides a unique opportunity for the school and community to come together to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through community service and volunteerism. We welcome community members, partners, as well as OEC students, families, and staff to complete projects that positively impact both OEC and the surrounding community. The day will start with an opening ceremony at 9:00am, three hours of service projects, lunch (provided), and a brief closing ceremony.

Our goal is to have the community come out and work together, with our staff and kids, to clean up our park and play area, in hopes to teach positive environmental care and respect for the park.

The youth from our community will unite with church members to beautify the church and surrounding areas.

At lunchtime, we will have a discussion with elders from our community who lived through the civil rights era. Young people will not only be able to glean from the experiences, but they will be able to ask some questions of their own.

Suggested non-perishable food items are canned food, jars of peanut butter or jelly, rice, cereal, dried fruits/raisins, breakfast bars/healthy snacks, and more. Donations will benefit the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and the F.E.R.B program at Delaware County Community College.

This project focuses on providing food for local community institutions that feed the hungry, homeless and less fortunate. Items from various food drives are received, packed and loaded on delivery trucks to stock the West Chester Food Cupboard.

We will be offering a free wash a dry service for girls ages 12-18 at Tamed Salon.

We will be considering the experience of homelessness through the lens of the four roles of social change (Organizer, Rebel, Advocate, Helper). 
- Following the morning program, attendees age 4-60+ will have an opportunity to participate in activities around homelessness related to the 4 roles of social changes. Activities include making care packages of toiletries for people experiencing homelessness that will be handed out at the Pit Count in late January,

FCS Middle School students and their families will be making 600 bagged lunches and then deliver them to various sites for the residents. The lunches include a turkey sandwich, a piece of fruit, and a dessert. The Middle School will also conduct a toiletry drive for Bethesda Project and will deliver the toiletries to the sites along with the lunches.
