The National Constitution Center will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s lifelong dedication to justice, liberty, and service for the greater good on January 20 with community service projects, special performances, and fun for the whole family. The Center will again join with the Global Citizen’s Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service for the daylong commemoration.

Need a powerful way to participate in the 2019 Martin Luther King Day of Service? Look no further! New Castle County Department of Community Services will be collecting new or gently-used books to assist families as they prepare their child for learning, reading and entering kindergarten. Collect age-appropriate books or select from the list below and drop off at the Gilliam Building by Friday, January 18.

The Martin Luther King CommUNITY Breakfast brings together over 500 community leaders, clergy, public officials and friends in observance of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and for fellowship and service. It is the largest event of its kind in Chester County. For the past two years, Congressman John Lewis has served as our Honorary Chairperson. After the Breakfast there is an opportunity for participants to dialogue with keynote speaker on issues of concern in the community.

General admission is $40 and students pay $15. Proceeds will benefit the Mary Gertrude Smith Boddie Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to undergraduate students of color at ESU.

The day will begin with a continental breakfast from 8:30 to 9:00 AM. Following, we will be having a discussion with community members on the impact addictions have had personally and in families. The discussion will begin with testimonies from individuals on the impact of drug addictions, food addictions, alcohol addictions, and sexual addictions. We will then have breakthrough groups with experts in each area of addiction to answer questions and gain more knowledge and information.

AAMP in Partnership with Citizen's Bank looks forward to hosting our annual MLK Weekend! On January 18th, we will offer $2 admission to the general public and will have read-alouds, sTreehouse books will be partnering with AAMP to donate books for our service project!

Volunteers will participate in various easy, hands on service projects throughout the school.

OEC's MLK Day provides a unique opportunity for the school and community to come together to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through community service and volunteerism. We welcome community members, partners, as well as OEC students, families, and staff to complete projects that positively impact both OEC and the surrounding community. The day will start with an opening ceremony at 9:00am, three hours of service projects, lunch (provided), and a brief closing ceremony.

Collecting and organizing supplies for community donation

Arcadia University participates in the MLK day of service by hosting a One-Stop-Drop. Members of the community drop off goods which are allocated to fulfill local nonprofit organizations wish lists. Last 90+ volunteers filled 6 box trucks and 8 vans with needed donations and shredded 1,000's of pounds of paper; providing goods to 9 nonprofit organizations.

Arcadia University’s Community and Civic Engagement Center (CCEC) will host a “Give and Shred” event in honor of Martin Luther King Day of Service on Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Members of the public can securely shred documents with Wiggins Shredding Company and ProShred. This year, CCEC will collect books for Project HOME; non-perishable food for Arcadia’s Knights for Nutrition food pantry; and professional wear and formal dresses for CareerWardrobe and Covenant House.

The Assemble Personal Hygiene Care Kits project will package donations with notes of encouragement for shelters to be given to those who are unsheltered.

We would like to de-clutter, clean and organize all of the rooms in this historic building. With the help of community partners we have been able to have a successful venture
each year we have participated in this event. Our community partners have been non-profits, colleges and Athletic Recreation Center's neighbors.

We are organizing the community to come together to show unity in the community. Bensalem residents along with any state, national, local leader, Clergy, Mayor, Senator, Bensalem Council members, Director of Public Safety and police officers.

TOMORROW’S GIRLS & Women along with volunteers mission is to put together homeless care backpacks filled with essential items to help people living on the streets this. In addition we will offer fleece blankets and emergency (space) blankets. These NASA designed, foil-type blankets are designed to be wrapped as close to the body as possible and will hold in 90% of body heat. Bags will be distributed throughout North Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

Each year, the work of more than 1000 volunteers keeps Bartram’s Garden a vibrant, safe green space for almost 95,000 neighbors and visitors. We are excited to dig into another year of work. Volunteers will work with our staff on seasonal tasks like weeding, planting, cleaning, pruning, and light maintenance. No special experience or skills required. Our mission at the Surfrider Foundation is to keep access open to the beach and water available for all community members as well as keeping it clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. By sponsoring a community cleanup with Stockton University on MLK day, we are continuing our mission of engaging local communities to be invested in the health of their local beaches as well as ensuring trash-free beach everyone can enjoy. Giving John Welsh Elementary School a physical beautification.

The auxiliary needs volunteers, any age, young or seasoned, to help out at the Beebe Treasure Chest Thrift Store, open seven days a week in the Midway Shopping Center on Route 1 behind Candy Kitchen. Volunteers can choose the hours they want to work. Tasks include sorting donated items, arranging displays, restocking shelves and working the cash register. Especially needed are young, strong individuals who can help with furniture pickups and deliveries.

The Office of Community Relations and Berean Presbyterian will host a play that will feature a lesson on civic engagement. all ages are welcome.

We'll create simple origami planter “starters” out of recycled newspaper and plant milkweed seeds in them. Participants will take home and then transplant to gardens to support the monarch community, or donate to a Community Garden. Education about the monarch butterfly / milkweed connection will be offered.

Help us prepare and package healthy meals for those in need. This is a great hands on and meaningful activity for ALL AGES! Food will be served to vounteers!

The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County is proud to announce that its annual memorial breakfast honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will take place on Friday, January 17, 2020, 7:30–9:30 a.m., at the Sheraton in Eatontown, 6 Industrial Way East.

Teaching the children about blessing the food, sitting together for meal time, discussing issues ,define what Martin Luther King means to you today.

We will meet in the Red Youth Building at 250 Green Lane, Bristol, PA 19007 (Calvary Baptist Church) for a MLK Day of Service Informational Presentation (and donuts!). We will package and prepare invitations for residents of Bristol Borough to take part in the 2020 SouperBowl of Caring on SuperBowl Sunday. We will then distribute the invitations to all 2500 homes in Bristol Borough.

Help us remove trash at Bristol Marsh Nature Preserve in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The more trash we collect, the less will get washed into our waterways!

Volunteers will check in at the Unitarian Society of Germantown, attend a brief service, and then go to the designated area to make non-personalized birthday cards for seniors living at a local service agency.

Lower school children will make cards for children in shelters (birthday, Christmas Thanksgiving ,Valentine’s Day etc)

Vare Rec. Staff and Advisory Council will be working the community to create a fun day. The day consists of a fun and interactive Dr. Martin Luther King treasure hunt for Children and a community lunch.

Members of the Association of Alumna will collect professional attire to be donated to Career Wardrobe for women/men reentering the workplace. Donations must be gently worn and clean. Preferable: Dresses, suits, pants, blazers, shirts, ties, blouses, and shoes.
