Our work will include reorganizing the playground's library and cleaning classrooms, tables, chairs, etc. The playground is also hosting a letter-writing campaign seeking full funding for the Free Library of Philadelphia. West Phila. Action for Early Learning Initiative (AFEL) will be honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with a Family Read-Along and Book Distribution as part of the annual MLK Day of Service at Drexel University’s Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, 3509 Spring Garden Street. Girl Scouts of Troop 9362 will assist the elderly residents of the Gray Manor Apartments in creating greeting cards and 50 Jared boxes for Shriners Hospital as well as The scouts will deliver the Jared Boxes and mail the greetings cards to servicemembers.

Our Congregation is organizing a family-friendly Day of Service with an emphasis on service projects that will be easy for children to complete. We will open our day with a brief program of inspiration and song to set the tone for the day. Then registered participants can rotate through our service project stations, completing projects that will result in donations for individuals and organizations in need throughout the local community.

We will meet in the Red Youth Building at 250 Green Lane, Bristol, PA 19007 (Calvary Baptist Church) for a MLK Day of Service Informational Presentation (and donuts!). We will package and prepare invitations for residents of Bristol Borough to take part in the 2020 SouperBowl of Caring on SuperBowl Sunday. Welcome to the Neighborhood MLK Day Event: Screening of the documentary film Won’t You Be My Neighbor about the life and legacy of Fred Rogers. There are snacks and art making activities for those in attendance of the screening and a discussion of the film afterwards.

Quilts of Love is sponsoring a day of quilt-making from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, Rehoboth Beach. Quilts are given to infants and children in Sussex County. All materials are provided for the day of fun and creativity. Those who don’t know how to sew will be taught. Attendees who can bring a sewing machine are asked to do so. All are asked to bring a covered dish to share at lunch. Donations accepted for future bees include pure cotton fabrics and fla

Visitors can sing along with “Two of a Kind,” an award-winning, nationally touring, husband-wife duo, during an interactive musical program. Focusing on themes related to Dr. King, the performance will encourage audience participation through songs, sign language, movement, and stories.

This project allows children and youth volunteers to use their talents and skills to give back and help others. The children will make arts and crafts gifts for senior citizens and cards for soldiers and veterans using scrap-booking techniques.

We will be offering a free wash a dry service for girls ages 12-18 at Tamed Salon.

The Documentary Video of MLK Day project allows volunteers to design a system to transmit and receive video and pictures from the various project sites throughout the Greater West Chester area to be shown when volunteers return from projects for lunch and Reflections.

Robeson Students will work with members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on
● Highlighting HBCUs, including HBCU alumni speakers/presenters and information
● Completing an HBCU staircase graphics display
● Providing information and discussions on the college process including resources and funding for college

The goal/mission of New Day FSC is to prevent Child Abuse and Neglect. By providing fun actives to our families for MLK day, we will be enhancing our mission. We plan on having four different crafts and reading in the kid room about MLK.

Our mission at the Surfrider Foundation is to keep access open to the beach and water available for all community members as well as keeping it clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. By sponsoring a community cleanup with Stockton University on MLK day, we are continuing our mission of engaging local communities to be invested in the health of their local beaches as well as ensuring trash-free beach everyone can enjoy. Community Street or Beach Cleanup in the Lower Chelsea neighborhood.

We have three rooms that need to be painted. All supplies will be provided. Lunch will also be provided for volunteers.

Participants will be assemble and deliver care packages to the homeless population and homeless shelters.

We will be collecting food for our food pantry at a local grocery store, and stocking them in our pantry. We rely on monthly food drives to supplement the food we obtain from the food bank. The food bank has a limited amount of options, and we need additional food to help feed people throughout the entire month. The food drive will be held at Casel's grocery store, and the pantry is located at the Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties office in Margate, NJ.

We will be using the Write for Rights campaign to write letters of support to individuals who are imprisoned for speaking up against injustices around the world. We also send letters to governments calling for the release of these said individuals.

Roslyn Elementary School will be reading and discussing My Daddy, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr during our school-wide assembly.

This project allows children and youth volunteers to be active through videos, games and movement that teach and share the legacy on Dr. King. Activities foster the atmosphere of celebration and holiday.

Paul Robeson students will participate in a Poetry Slam and Spoken Word Contest. The focus will be based on the theme of the day, "We Have 20/20 Vision and We're Focused on Our Future." Robeson HS teachers will serve as judges. Semi-finalists will be determined the Friday before MLK Day and finalists will perform on MLK Day.

As the Latino organization on campus, it is part of our mission to spread awareness of the issues that impact the Latino community, as well as give voices to those who don't have the opportunity to speak up. Our organization would like to sponsor a project that includes writing letters of support and encouragement to the detainees being held in ICE detention centers.

The staff at E. W. Rhodes Elementary School will continue their endeavor to update school murals and school painting projects. Due to the square footage of the school, there are a number of areas that require painting. The school does not have the funding to cover all of the areas needed so volunteers from the school community will work on different painting projects around the school.
