Gloucester Township Senior Campus Center – Bingo and Valentine’s Day Card making with the Seniors.

Toiletries drive for the homeless. Accepting donations now until January 20th 2020. Volunteers are asked to bring new toiletry items only. Nothing old or used. Some suggested items include: new socks, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo, soap, new underwear, mouth wash, new hats, new gloves etc.

Gabreil Daveis Tavern - Located in the Glendora section of Gloucester Township, the tavern was built in 1756. Service project entails cleaning up the home and assisting in archiving old letters. Project is limited to ten volunteers - adults must accompany children.

Community Cleanup

FCS Middle School students and their families will be making 600 bagged lunches and then deliver them to various sites for the residents. The lunches include a turkey sandwich, a piece of fruit, and a dessert. The Middle School will also conduct a toiletry drive for Bethesda Project and will deliver the toiletries to the sites along with the lunches.

Volunteers will check in at the Unitarian Society of Germantown, attend a brief service, and then go to the designated area to decorate lunch bags.

Clean up local recreation center

Students will either be creating videos or going over to the Early Childhood Center (birth to age 3) of the school

E01, L05 and M35 will set up an EMS education session and health fair in the lobby of this senior citizens home. We will distribute information to attendees, answer health related questions and check vital signs for attendees.

Volunteers sort and pack food to be distributed through our programs and agency network. You could be packing canned goods, produce, meat, or helping with various warehouse tasks.

Trash Cleanup for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Help us remove trash at Bristol Marsh Nature Preserve in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The more trash we collect, the less will get washed into our waterways!

Unforgotten Haven – Located in downtown Blackwood this organization accepts donations of clothing and housing items. Volunteers will sort and coordinate donations.

Penn State Brandywine is hosting its annual family-friendly MLK Day Celebration that will focus on acts of kindness, educational activities, inclusion and artistic expressions of Dr. King’s legacy. The event is organized by Penn State Brandywine's Center for Ethics and Civic Engagement in partnership with FUSE (Fellowship of Urban Suburban Engagement) and various Penn State Brandywine student clubs and organizations.

-being reminded and introducing what the civil rights movement is about and why it is important (senior adults share their experiences)

Volunteers will check in at the Unitarian Society of Germantown, attend a brief service, and then go to the project site to sanitize toys and clean up at a day center for families in transition.

We will be doing a mixture of stories in ASL for young children in the Early Childhood Education Center (preschool). One about kindness and acceptance, for that is what MLK's message was ( we are thinking something similar to the ugly little duckling) but will ultimately decide this with the students tomorrow morning. Another general story, such as a well known fairy tale and will use the recommended MLK stories from Global Citizen.

Drivers with cars and others are needed to box and delivered bagged lunches, snacks, and soup to local social service agencies, some as far as Center City. Passengers with drivers are encouraged.

Volunteers will also package "Keep It Warm" packs for seniors in a senior living facility and Volunteers will donate, sort and package personal care items for men, women and children in homeless shelters.

St. Vincent de Paul Society (Food Bank at St. Agnes Church) – Organizing, inventory, collection of donations.

Students will make cards/flowers and bring/play games with deaf senior citizens at the Valley View nursing home in Bucks County.

Our goal is to have the community come out and work together, with our staff and kids, to clean up our park and play area, in hopes to teach positive environmental care and respect for the park.

On MLK Day approximately 300 volunteers from YouthBuild are coming to complete a beautification project at the school. They will paint murals in specific locations throughout the building.

Clean Up

"Join HIAS PA to learn new tools to advocate for Philadelphia's immigrant communities to your elected officials. The HIAS PA advocacy team will be having a one hour training on the history of race in the US immigration system. We will then use what we've learned to write our elected officials about how they can take action for Immigrants and Refugees in the New Year! This event will take place at HIAS PA (2100 Arch St).

Volunteers will check in at the Unitarian Society of Germantown, attend a brief service, then participate in letter writing regarding various issues such as gun control, immigration, and economic justice; possibly engage in voter registration activity.

Engine 41 and Ladder 24 members will inspect dwellings on the 5800 block of Thompson St and 1200 block of 59th St for smoke alarms. After which, members will install smoke alarms as needed. Companies will also remove debris around Carroll Park on the same blocks.

TTR Hope House men and a mixture of the community along with Elizabeth Fiedlers state rep office will have boots on the ground to clean the community of south Philly. The target area is LoMo community.

Students will collect pet supplies to sent to the animal shelter.

Engine 70 will be visiting the Houseman Rec center, as in the past, to distribute fire prevention literature and speak on the importance of Fire Prevention. We will offer a presentation on 1st aid and offer blood pressure checks. Engine 70 will use this opportunity to reestablish contacts with community leaders and seek those in our CRR district that may be in need of smoke detectors.
On this day, Engine 70 will reaffirm our commitment to the community we are assigned to protect.

Sock Donation

Volunteers will arrive at 8:30 am to help with meal prep and serving dinner to homeless men women and children at 3959 Lancaster Ave, Phila PA 19104

Volunteers will check in at the Unitarian Society of Germantown, attend a brief service, and then go to the project site to play games, do art projects, enjoy music, interact with the elderly.
