Literacy event where sheriffs are reading to students

The day will begin with a continental breakfast from 8:30 to 9:00 AM. Following, we will be having a discussion with community members on the impact addictions have had personally and in families. The discussion will begin with testimonies from individuals on the impact of drug addictions, food addictions, alcohol addictions, and sexual addictions. We will then have breakthrough groups with experts in each area of addiction to answer questions and gain more knowledge and information.

West Phila. Action for Early Learning Initiative (AFEL) will be honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with a Family Read-Along and Book Distribution as part of the annual MLK Day of Service at Drexel University’s Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, 3509 Spring Garden Street. Activities will take place from 10 am to Noon. Parents, caregivers and children of all ages are encouraged to participate. Children’s books will be distributed. A Local Actor will re-enact an MLK Speec

We'll be welcoming folks from all backgrounds and ages to participate in hands-on service projects and learning opportunities.
Some activities will include: making sandwiches to donate to homeless shelter, making inspirational cards for children with cancer, sorting clothes, sorting/dedicating/recording books, making therapy goat leads, green project, package home goods for refugees, and much more! We'll be having discussion of justice reform and interfaith dialogue. Food will be served!

Cleaning a local church.

The entire community is invited to attend this project. All ages will have activities and information to take home. Free books will be given out.

Our after school program has a library of over 300 books which are in need of labeling and organizing to assist our students in selecting titles that are appropriate for their age group! Open to all!!

The Center will again join with the Global Citizen’s Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service for the daylong commemoration. The National Constitution Center is also organizing the donation of school supplies.

We are trying to increase production and need working space. Also, any help with production allows keeps the cost of production down which helps maintain the supported employment model. An additional studio room needs to be updated with paint, cleanup. Also, they can work in the production of goods.

The goal/mission of New Day FSC is to prevent Child Abuse and Neglect. By providing fun actives to our families for MLK day, we will be enhancing our mission. We plan on having four different crafts and reading in the kid room about MLK.

As the Latino organization on campus, it is part of our mission to spread awareness of the issues that impact the Latino community, as well as give voices to those who don't have the opportunity to speak up. Our organization would like to sponsor a project that includes writing letters of support and encouragement to the detainees being held in ICE detention centers.

Copper Beech will be a center to collect school supplies from the community of students, families, and leaders starting from December 2nd to January 17th. There will be an assembly on Jan. 7th to commemorate MLK's life and the importance of character that C.A.R.E.S.

As part of an afterschool program (LEAP), the children's librarian will read My Daddy, Martin Luther King, Jr. by Martin Luther King III to children in grades K-5. After discussing the book, children will write or draw an answer to the question, "What can you learn from the story about courage and taking action?"

Volunteers from Sandmeyer Steel will be packaging emergency food bags that will go to our Home Delivered Meals Clients this winter. The volunteers will also be putting together 300 emergency meals that will help our clients get through weeks where the weather does not allow normal food deliveries, and cooking 200 additional meals that for our clients.

The girls of the Sister Cities Girlchoir will travel to 2 libraries in the Kensington neigbhorhood and perform a tribute concert to Dr. King.

WE ASK THAT EACH VOLUNTEER DONATE A USED CLEAN COAT MALE OR FEMALE. Come with a SMILE.
We will be making sandwiches, fill soup cups, sort and pack toiletries, snack sacks, cut out words of encouragement inserts, pack sandwich bags.

TOMORROW’S GIRLS & Women along with volunteers mission is to put together homeless care backpacks filled with essential items to help people living on the streets this. In addition we will offer fleece blankets and emergency (space) blankets. These NASA designed, foil-type blankets are designed to be wrapped as close to the body as possible and will hold in 90% of body heat. Bags will be distributed throughout North Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

The youth will later clean the library and paint a mural on the wall in the teen section of the library. Also The 2019/2020 Girls Who Code in conjunction with Sisters R Us Survivors Of Delaware County will prepare care packages for Breast Cancer Survivors.

Working in conjunction with Father Judge High School, our companies will clean up the memorial and remove any trash and debris from the area. We will polish the bell and wipe down the granite headstone. At this time if there are any repairs needed to the fencing or post we will perform them.

We will hosting a large group of residents / volunteers from the township of Mount Holly, surrounding towns, the 3 schools in the district, plus the local high school.
Partners include Mount Holly Twp Public School District, Rancocas Valley Regional High School, the Joint Base McGuire - Dix - Lakehurst, local businesses, etc.
The activities will include a non-perishable food donation, arts & crafts, a display of MLK related art and writings, games, letter writing, a reflection wall, etc.

This project focuses on providing food for local community institutions that feed the hungry, homeless and less fortunate. The “SuperMarket Food Drive” is conducted to stock the West Chester Food Cupboard.
