Painting

Volunteers will be assisting in beautifying in the building and its grounds.

Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and West Belmont Civic Association are working together to clean up
vacant lots in the 43rd St & Westmister area.

PPYC & PPFC will collaborate to host a Prospect Park Food Donation Drive. We will receive drop offs of donated food at the Prospect Park Fire Company with assistance of volunteers from PPYC, PPFC, and other community members. Donated food will be distributed to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and possibly to the food pantry at Delaware County Community College for students with food insecurities. I reached out to DCCC to see if they have students with food insecurities.

Cleaning classrooms, winterizing windows and doors, organizing books, materials. Minor paint jobs.

Volunteers will come and help to spruce inside the facility.

Trash cleanup, removing invasive and woody species, mulching trees

This project will involve Germantown Friends School members and their families discussing how to improve racial awareness. Ideally this dialogue will be student-led.

Our MLK Day Of Service Project will consist of volunteers helping cleaning the fellowship hall at Trinity AME Church.

The Key Club will volunteer at the Masonic Home assisting with caring for the elderly residents. We will help deliver the mail, laundry, water & ice containers. Take the residents to the lunch room or to have their hair done. Sit and talk to them or read.

The Kennett Area YMCA is proudly partnering with a few local community based organizations for MLK Day. We will have 2 opportunities for the public to get involved. Our first opportunity will be with the Kennett Area Senior Center. Our volunteers will come prepared to roll up their sleeves and dig in to help paint, clean, and reorganize a few work spaces at the center. The second opportunity will be with His Mission Shelter and the Kennett Y will be assembling personal care bags for the shelter.

A combination of community residents and community leaders will come together to clean the facility and surrounding streets on this day.

From 9-noon we invite volunteers to join us at our office in the Bok Building (5th floor) to Prep Art Projects for Preschool Art Projects for our Free Art Workshops for Underserved Youth. Volunteers can learn how to make ASI crafts and cut fabric and paper projects, use a sewing machine, use glue guns google eyes and pompoms to make puppets. Volunteers are also welcomed to prep or make Valentine's Day cards which we distribute to homeless veterans and senior citizens.

Community members and volunteers will write letters for local city councilpersons and other politicians seeking support to fully fund the Free Library of Philadelphia. In 2018, Northwest library branches were forced to close early 86 times this year due to employee shortages--that’s the second highest rate in the city. Sort, inventory and bag new socks that were donated for those experiencing homelessness. Warehouse is unheated. Lifting and moving boxes and bags of socks weighing about 10-25 pounds. Perhaps some office work.

We will be cleaning outside ( weather pending) the recreation facility.

This project allows volunteers to use their craft skills to give care for others by making cards for soldiers, veterans and first responders using scrap-booking techniques.

Students would be helping to build and move furniture in the warehouse.
