It is the mission of CBNC to serve our community by maintaining a clean and safe environment for all. Volunteers and Neighbors will participate in a community clean up that can include the removing of trash/debris, painting and more in local area vacant lots, parks, and streets.

Carnegie Museum of Art celebrates his legacy through artworks and activities that inspire discussion and reflection. All are invited to enjoy the following family-friendly activities, free with admission. Attendees will engage in a reflective self-portrait opportunity.

Our goal that day is to encourage community members to network with businesses owners, host workshops, and creating a dialog around being a minority, but not limited to, entrepreneur. Join the Norristown Project for our annual MLK Day of Service activity at Montgomery County OIC. Each year we select a classroom at our facility to be painted. On January 21st, we will paint our community classroom and after-school classroom. Details to be announced as we get closer to January.

This activity is limited to 40 volunteers, please RSVP to sashe@montcooic.org with the number of volunteers you will bring. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Join us for our next community cleanup on Saturday, January 19th! This time, we’re going to be cleaning the blocks surrounding Willard and Conwell Schools. At 9am, we'll be meeting in the Municipal Parking Lot across the street from Conwell (1804-36 East Clearfield St).

Located in the Erial section of Gloucester Township, this campground has undergone extensive renovations over the last few years. Service project entails cleaning of the buildings and outside area. This is an outside activity.

Luncheon for the Benjamin Franklin Birthday Celebration, honoring The Marshall Project and its editor-in-chief, Bill Keller on the theme of "Liberty and Justice for All? Reforming America's Criminal Justice System". Mr. Keller will receive the Franklin Founder Award and give a talk on "The Guilty Project: A few lessons from the reporting on our dysfunctional criminal justice system.“ Luncheon tickets are $75, and registration is required (www.franklincelebration.org).

items are given as "a little extra something" to the frail elderly people who regularly receive meals.

Manayunk Tow Path- We will cut down all perennials and tall grasses and remove other debris and weeds in preparation of next spring and summer season. Also maybe start preparing some planting beds for a spring planting of native perennials.

Members and friends of First Baptist Church of Crestmont will work together to clean, organize, make minor repairs and other things as needed to assist in the upkeep of The House of God.

Members of the church and neighbors from the community will join together to clean up the church's facilities. This may include dusting, mopping, sweeping, cleaning out closets and rooms, thoroughly clean kitchens and bathrooms. May include some painting.

Methacton High School Warriors Performance Dance Troup performs via expressive dance, readings, poems, song and appropriate music. This group brings Dr. King's principles to life via their routines for the patients and staff at Eagleville.

MLK Day will be the kick off of an ongoing Rejuvenation Project at the Cecil B. Moore Village Community in North Philadelphia. On MLK Day we will be cleaning up litter, cutting the grass, and trimming shrubs. We will have college students from Temple University volunteering as well as members of the community support this project.

Montclair State University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local community members are invited to serve in the Montclair community and surrounding areas, working with habitat for humanity in Paterson, NJ. in order to assist in a volunteer building project.

New Castle County, Department of Community Services will be collecting new children’s books for the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. New books will be donated to parents and caregivers of budding readers, children ages 0 to 5 years. The 1000 Books before kindergarten initiative was started by the 1000 Books Foundation.
Books will be sorted and organized at the Gilliam Building and then transported to local New Castle County libraries for parents and caregivers to pick up.

Northern Liberties Recreation Center will be hosting a sock drive.

Olney Eagles Youth Organization is sponsoring a 3-on-3 co-ed basketball tournament. Players can volunteer for morning cleanup and stay to participate in the basketball tournament.

On Monday January 21, 2019, the Crispus Attucks Association will be holding its annual MLK Day of Service. At 8 AM we will begin with musical presentations from local organizations and schools , as well as community members.Shortly after the "Living the Dream Award" ceremony will take place for selected high school students that represent what MLK stood for. Lastly, the annual breakfast is served while attendees can sign up for volunteer sites throughout the city.

On Monday, January 21st, in honor of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Memorial Day of Service, PYB is partnering with on of our Middle School Partnership Program school, Andrew Hamilton Elementary, to clean and paint their gymnasium. We are seeking 5-10 community volunteers to join us in assisting with this project.

Organizing, inventory, collection of donations.

Our annual gathering to knit and crochet hats for those in need. Easy patterns & basic instruction will be available; snacks and drinks will be provided. Hat-making continues year-round, but this is our group session.
Donations of knitting needles (sizes 8 or 9), crochet hooks (sizes 3 or 4) and skeins of worsted-weight yarn are always welcome. Knitting hoops are also used, for those who shy away from knitting needles and crochet hooks.

Our day of service will consist of making blankets for children's hospitals and homeless shelters, making get well cards with words of encouragement for children and adults, and making care package zip-lock bags for the homeless (wipes, lotions.hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrush, socks). We are partnering with Ronald McDonald House, Children's Hospital, Joseph's Project, and Cooper Hospital.

Our day will include a book giveaway and author signings.

Our holiday camps offer exciting learning opportunites, tours through the zoo, crafts, games, and much more! Campers must be potty trained and come dressed for the weather, as well as bring a lunch bag and water bottle.

Our MLK project will consist of Indoor Cleaning, Organizing recreation equipment/Materials and Light Painting. Breakfast Refreshments and Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

Our organization will be in two places on Jan. 21st, 2019. We will be holding two community service projects to help families
who are unable to purchase basic human needs for their children. Our volunteers will participate in activities honoring Martin
Luther King, Jr., and how in the light of a new Presidential election, our families need information, knowledge to become
empowered in their daily lives .Families who are not able to buy diapers may lose a job be absent from school

Our school needs help with organizing the book and supply closets, along with painting the blue parts of the wall, and classroom doors.

Our students and their families will come together in our school gym to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will also talk about foster care. Then the children will fill back backs with personal hygiene items and school supplies to donate to Wordsworth CUA Region 10 foster care services.

PAINTING WITH A PURPOSE is a project geared to beautifying W.C. Longstreth School in order to continue our efforts to create a warm inviting environment for scholars, families, staff and community members who wish to utilize our space to give back to the community. Our scholars deserve to walk into a clean building filled with color and a story. We not only want to paint we want to tell a story. At Longstreth our scholars learn the importance of legacy. This project will allow them to leave one!

Part of our goal for this year's MLK Day of Service is to provide access to high school-aged students to critical information related to self-expression opportunities such as a spoken word competition etc., creating buttons as a memento of the day and their school's namesake.

PPYC & PPFC will collaborate to host a Prospect Park Food Donation Drive. We will receive drop offs of donated food at the Prospect Park Fire Company with assistance of volunteers from PPYC, PPFC, and other community members. Donated food will be distributed to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and possibly to the food pantry at Delaware County Community College for students with food insecurities. I reached out to DCCC to see if they have students with food insecurities.

PRO-ACT (Pennsylvania Recovery Organization Achieving Community Together) will be performing a neighborhood clean-up around the PRCC, Philadelphia Recovery Community Center. Sayre Morris staff and volunteers will work on a beautification project which comprises cleaning common areas as well as outside. Predominantly, the main entrance and side garden needs some tender loving care. We would like to create a raised garden to promote healthy eating as well as function as a distribution site in the near future. The goal is to brighten the entrance to make it more appealing to the community via painting the walls and planting flowers, fruit, and vegetables.

School Lane's Charter School's 6th grade Ambassadors will be assembling self-care bags to be distributed among the homeless community. Ambassador director, Victoria Fairburn and other staff members will oversee the assembly.

Simon Gratz Mastery Charter is partnering with Nicetown CDC to donate at least 50 boxes of holiday meals to local community members, while also serving them a warm meal. Our volunteers will be working from 10AM-12PM to sort food and create individual boxes for families. From 12PM-2PM we will be serving a warm meal (provided by staff) to community members. From 2PM-3PM we will be cleaning up the site.

Sixty students will participate in an intensive research exploration of African American culture and history by visiting the MLK Monument and National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. Faculty will serve as their guides to assist students in completing several learning outcomes, which include developing Knowledge about different racial/ethnic groups, openness to diversity and challenges, socio-historical thinking, and social action engagement.

South Orange Maplewood Community Coalition on Race presents the 18th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Monday, January 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm, at Columbia High School, 17 Parker Ave, Maplewood. The event is free and open to all. Hundreds of SOMA residents and friends from neighboring communities gathering donations.

South Philadelphia High School, Mayor's Office of Education, Bethanna, Lower Moyanmensing Civic Association, CityLife Church, and SEAMAAC will host a day of service focused on literacy. Volunteers will paint hallways in the school and construct Little Free Libraries.
